Although artist Darla Dixon has enjoyed “secular jobs” in management and human resources, she has been drawing
all her life. In 2000, Darla gave up her corporate status and began creating custom portraits. Inspired and based upon photos
supplied by clients, Darla’s portraits reflect the precious and memorable moments of babies, children, pets, and even
the homes of those who wish to capture that particular moment in time. Her love of her subjects is evident in the finished
artwork.
Darla has also carried her artistry into mediums for more mass enjoyment: she has illustrated 3 books, created
artwork for 5 book and 2 magazine covers, and has had her art published in notable publications such as the
Christian
Science Monitor.
Darla is a member of The Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators, the American
Society of Portrait Artists, the New York Society of Portrait Artists, and the Fellowship of Christians in Portraiture. She
is the founder of Professional Pencil Portrait Artists.
Darla has lived in Snellville, Georgia for 17 years and is
married with 4 children. An active member of her community, she keeps Snellville apprised of happenings through her publishing
of
My Snellville Blog/Snellville Today for the past six years. She was honored by city officials who designated September 27, 2010, as the official Darla Dixon
Day, recognizing her work promoting the city and advancing the awareness of the Arts in Snellville.
